Counselling and Contemplative Psychotherapy
I am sorry, I am not taking new psychotherapy and counselling clients at this time
Philosophy:
Heather believes in the inherent goodness of each person. We are conditioned beings. Our history leads us to respond in habitual ways. Once we recognize how our conditioning may be effecting us, we can work towards understanding ourselves fully (body, speech and mind) and then allow habitual ways of being to dissolve, regulate behaviors that aren't useful and develop new healthy responses. This approach uses mindfulness awareness of the energy fields, both ours and others and energy psychology to notice a) that we always respond, b) how we respond and c) how we can change the responses to work for us. We look at our thinking, family patterns, personality traits, communication styles, energy patterns, body responses and at the same time develop compassionate understanding of ourselves. We use narrative therapy to take a look at our stories and their relevance, and maybe create new ones that are more authentic, stripped of conditioning that is not serving us. We use body awareness to interact with ourselves energetically, physically and emotionally. We open our hearts to ourselves and others. We do something different even when it feels uncomfortable and use mindfulness and energy psychology to open to a deeper sense of truth and make peace with ourselves. We practice and self-reflect and then go forward again testing our authenticity and ability to support ourselves to be what we can be. We ask for support of others, when needed, It is a spiritual journey as well as physical, mental and emotional.
